Iman El Wardani, who holds a doctorate in biology, is the deputy mayor of Sousse municipality and the head of its Equal Opportunities Committee. During the Covid crisis, she contributed to taking care of vulnerable groups in the city of Sousse, including migrants, and encouraged civil work in the city. She was arrested on May 10, 2024, and Iman faces various charges such as money laundering, fraud, forming an alliance for the entry of foreigners and exploiting the job, and these charges come due to a partnership between the municipality of Sousse and the Tunis Land of Refuge Association under a project to open an office to guide and advise migrants and refugees.
